would any breeders recommend giving folic acid(like women take prior to pregnancy) prior to your bitch coming in season if you were intending to mate her!

Thanks for any replies.

I've been recommended raspberry leaf tablets and wheat germ oli tablets to help with fertility in bitches - start giving them them at the start of their season.

Folic Acid is recommended for dogs.

Wheatgerm Oil capsules can be given one week before mating and for the first three weeks of pregnancy it is a good source of Vitamin E and is important for good fertility and to help prevent absorption and abortion.

Raspberry Leaf tablets however have nothing to do with "helping fertility"  but can be given from the third week of pregnancy and continued until one week after delivery. These are a wonderfully effective birth aid as they tone the reproductive organs and also help to ensure complete removal of the placentas.

However one can also use RLT to help prevent phantom pregnancies in bitches that have seasons if given from the first day of the season for 12 weeks, in conjunction with EPO.
