Anyone any ideas on how to stop my pup chewing. I have run out of ideas and this thing could chew for Scotland. She has already eaten 4 sofas and 8 chairs [in the dog room] and when we were at Driffield on Friday and were staying with friends she was left overnight in the car with her two pals [angels compared to madame] and ate my canvas cage - not nibbled a wee bit but eaten to the poles. I have tried all the sprays from the pet shop but she loves them. I don't want to muzzle her while I am out and she has the comopany of five other dogs , plenty of chew toys and a ball that rolls and treats come out. If I leave her in her cage she would howl [she is also very good at that] . Luckily I only leave them to do the school run and shopping.
She is six months old now so is getting a bit big for this. The rest of her litter are chewers as well but not nearly as bad as her.She is also a thief and will pick up anything in her way or higher!!!! [makes you keep the house tidy]. Apart from this she is a lovely pup with a gorgeous nature. Any ideas on how to make Alba get over this stage.

You could manage the environment by using a cage etc, this would also protect your dog's health because the fact that she is destroying so much furniture could result in an impaction, bloat etc etc etc. A metal cage would be great for the car too.
Have you tried stuffed kongs, smearing vicks vaporub about?
Otherwise she may be a little mentally underoccupied and so you could try tiring her out when you are available by using hunting, searching and retrieve games.

I could lend you a cage for a while if you want Nicky. It fits Chance, so your wee Alba should fit in it ok! That way you'll know if she'll be fine before you spend a lot of money on one. I've only just started letting Seska have free range of the Living room this weekend and she seems ok so far ;) I still have her cage, just in case I need it! :D
Another thing you could do is to provide some bones for her to chew.
Warm regards Susan
I have a huge metal cage which she sleeps in at night [i can fit four full grown munsters in it]. The thing is she will howl if she is left on her own away from her pack. have tried all the kongs and things on her own but she wants her pals and if you give it to her the others steal it off her. She gets good free running out in the fields next to our house as it is stubble at the moment and comes back tired but she is a very active liitle munster and comes round well. Hogan would be quite happy to sleep for the rest of the year but no Alba she is a very active little munster. She is also very mouthy and even mouths your hand at every oppurtunity but we have now got it to the gentle mouthing stage. will have to try harder with her .
