Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Fillers for raw feeding?
- By Guest [gb] Date 15.10.05 11:47 UTC
Hello,

I feed my dogs raw but they are putting on a little weight. I have cut down their food but would like to add a filler to their meals (this is to prevent scavenging due to hunger).

Does anyone have any ideas for good filler? I think I have heard that cabbage may be a good one. Are there any more?

Thank you.

Carrot, roughly grated rather than blended (the bigger the pieces the less of the natural sugars they will get outo f it, so it will fill up the dog).

Most veg really, but beware too much veg giving them the runs.

Cut down the food in general, especially fatty meats like lamb and turkey -- its surprising how LITTLE some dogs actually need when on a raw diet -- one of mine a stocky staffie x, eats just one or two chicken wings and a third of a can of fish a day, obviously that varies and i add veg every few days, but thats the basic amount for him.
