how long does the bitch bleed for after whelping my bitch has been bleeding now for 9 days and I cant remember her bleeding this long before

It can continue for 7-9 weeks, definitely for as long as she is feeding the pups. My bitch last bled for around 8 weeks.

if you are worried tho, please make sure you take her to see your vet, as my girl had a split uterus, and the vet kept telling me it was normal to bleed over the phone, as she had 10 pups, she was bleeding for almost 3 weeks, i ended up taking her in as i was so unhappy with their attitude over the phone, and when they saw her, they rushed her straight in and she went on a drip, the next day she had an emergency spay, and we almost lost her because of it, so please keep an eye on it!

When you say bleeding, presumably you do not mean bright red blood, rather a dark red/brown colour? The latter is perfectly normal, but as had been said, if you're worried take her to the vet to be checked over.
