hi everyone,

im a bit upset at the moment, went for a ultra sound day before yesterday my girl is showing all signs of pregnancy but stomach had'nt dropped and could not feel any movement from pups she was on day54.  vet said she was having a false pregnancy and could not see any pups on the ultra sound.

yesterday i went to see my own vet(ultra sound was at a referral hospital) i asked him if he was sure there was definately no pups and he looked at the scans and said as far as he could see there was nothing there so i was priscribed Galastop which will dry up any milk and calm her behaviour.  when i got home i was about to give her the required dose, iwas reluctant ( incase they where wrong and there still could be a pup as this brings on abortion) then before i could give the medication she was sick everywhere so if i had given the dose a minute earlier it would all of come back up.  i still have not given medication yet its day 56.  i would just like some feed back of anyone whose been in this situation!!!

This has happened to us twice,we had our bitch mated to a very experinced stud dog,we had prevously used before and we had a lovely litter of strong healthy pups,but unfortunatly our bitch didn't take but showed us all the signs of been in whelp
We took her for a scan and a repeat scan the following week but there were no pups,we felt very down in the dumps.

12 months later we decided to use another well bred experinced dog,again we had her scanned again no pups,we had her swabbed at the vets and bloodtested so we could be sure when to mate her,but again we had no pups and again she showed us all the signs she was in whelp.

we decided after the next season when she wasn't mated but had another false pregnancy to have her spayed,it wasn't fair to her.

i know excatly how your feeling,all i can suggest is to keep your chin up and maybe next time things will work out for you.

DID YOU GIVE YOUR BITCH ANY MEDICATION THE FIRST TIME SHE HAD A FALSE PREGNANCY OR DID YOU LEAVE HER TO DRY UP ON HER OWN.

If I was you I would leave off giving the medication until after about day 65 as I have read loads of times of scans showing no pups and then the bitches go on to whelp.My vet said my stafford wasn't in whelp at day 50 and she had 9 puppies on day 63.

THANKS FOR YOUR ADVISE I HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE SO I WILL WAIT SHE WOULD BE DUE A WEEK FROM TODAY, THE ONLY THING IS HER STOMACH HAS NOT DROPPRD YET?!!!
