We have a huge amount of irresponsible Staffy owners round here, mostly young lads and men who laugh when thier off lead dogs go after other dogs.  They breed indiscriminatly because there is a huge demand. However they are now crossing them with Sharpei's  (excuse the spelling).
Anyway these new trend dogs seem worse than the staffys for aggression.  This morning i nearly lost my little JR to one.  Was walking him on the lead along the road and this Staff xSh came hurtling down the road, accross the road hackles up teeth barred flying for my poor little lad who doesn't as much as bark at another dog, he loves everyone and everything.
Luckily I picked him up in the air above my head but the dog was leaping up trying to grab him.  The owner came sauntering up a couple of mins later (didn't hurry himself) grabbed the dogs collar said sorry Luv, but he likes a bit of fun, and went to walk off.
I was shaking with fear and anger and shouted at him to keep the damn dog under control.  But he just said Yeah Yeah and headed off.
If I had had my other pup with me I couldn't have picked her up as she is to heavy and i hate to think what mess she would have been in.
Makes me scared to walk my dogs I can tell you.

Quite common around there the owner type thought not that particular corss.  Fortunately we have quite good dog wardens who will speak to any owner (if yu can tell them who it is) that allows their dog out off lead in the street.  I would suggest having a word with the dog warden service and suggest a time they can cruise aroudn when these people are likely to be out being antisocial.  Aroudn here the Police are cracking down on antisocial behaviour (mainly car crime and crownds of yuths), so might be worth a word, but I woudl try the dog warden first.
