hi i have a 11 month old newfy bitch and she has not had a season yet is this normal, my staffy bitch had a season at six months and has been regular ever since. I am a little concerned any one got any advice.

Not unusual in some breeds not to come in season until almost two years of age.
My Sussex bitch (called Betty!) had her first season at 8 months, but her sister was over a year old.... I wouldn't worry about it too much, but if concerned, then a quick phone call to your vet should answer any questions you may have. I can't remember when Zimba had her first season (all those years ago) but I have a feeling that larger dogs are later than smaller dogs - no doubt I shall be corrected if wrong....

thanks i know i worry but all the female dogs i have known have had a season with in their first year.
Its great when there are so many people you can ask for advice. All the experience combined on this site certainly helps put ones mind at ease.
thank you all
THe only answer to that one is 'when you are least expecting it' or when it is really inconvenient :D

In general, giant breeds have their first season later than other breeds. I was told that anything between 12-18 months is perfectly normal and even later in some cases.
