Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Putting weight on a LHASA

Hi
My lhasa is nearly one and very very petite. Ive been told she needs to put a bit of weight. She would eat anything at all and Ive started giving her raw mince mixed in with her royal cannin. Will that help or does anything else have any suggestions??

Thanks
Clare

If she needs to gain weight you should consider switching her to one of the "performance" foods - I'm not sure if Royal Canin does one or not, but many do.  If they do not and you want to stick with Royal Canin you might consider switching her to their puppy food.  Puppy and performance blends are higher in kalories that adult or maintenance foods.

You can add calories to her food now by adding a little bit of oil, the mince is certainly good, an egg (raw or cooked) once in a while, pilchards in tomato sauce, tuna, potato, or any number of things which are high in Kalories without adding too much bulk.
