Could anyone advise me as to whether a hernia in a king charles spaniel would be penalised should I decide to show him while he's still got it. It doesnt appear to give him any discomfort so I am reluctant to have him operated on but I really would like to show him at a forthcoming open show. If anyone has successfully shown a dog with a protruding hernia or judged such a dog in a show I would very much welcome your advice.

If you have the op you will have to ask the KC for permision to show and it is not usualy granted. If you show him with the hernia it may or may not be noticed. JH

Hi, is it an umbilical or inguinal hernia? To be honest if a judge spotted an inguinal hernia it you would not be placed, and leaving it without surgery is a bit risky to the dogs health, has your vet seen it? A small umbilical hernia may be forgiven by a judge though.
