Pippa my 9 month old pup has been on Wafcol Salmon and Potatoe for about three weeks now due to really itching skin which developed on her previous food.
All the excessive itching has almost gone but she seems to become an excessive licker. So much that the fur on her inside front legs has become thin, shes black so you can see her skin colour. She also insists on licking me and my family on our arms, calves and neck area, we stop this by saying NO and she stops.
When we got her she was 6 months old and didnt do this- is there a connection and has the licking become a habit?!
She not bored because we train her daily, she has a kong and a treat ball if I go out at.
Any advise appreciated:)

Hi Noel
What breed is she? Skin probs can be very difficult to treat. Wafcol is an excellent exclusion diet. You say you leave her a [filled?] Kong when you go out. What do you put in it? Any deviation from the exclusion diet could be causing her to itch still. When feeding the exclusion diet, you need to use some of it [part of her daily ration] as "treats". If this is what you are doing, why not get your vet to check her out.

Hi Neeva
Shes a JRX, we think with a Patterdale!
But the problem of her skin has now gone, due to feeding her on Wafcol. This is want I put in her Kong as Ive excluded everything other than Wafcol. Ive tried her on JWB treats and shes fine on them too.
The problem is breaking this licking habit- any advise thanks.
