can dogs catch a cold from humans? my family and i have had a nasty cold on and off for the last month now my dogs have started to sneeze and cough, do you think they could have caught our cold??

Someone told me that its impossible because dogs are immune to that virus! But then a hamster can catch human flu!

I've just done a search and it would appear that no dogs cant catch our cold. they have their own bugs that dont affect us ie kennel cough..
incidently though we can pass our human cold on to ferrets :)

AT the moment I would suggest that this is up for debated bearing in mind that a lot of viruses are now mutating and, like bird flu, crossing species....................

No dogs do not catch human colds.
Much more likely they are reacting to something else, have you used olbas oil or menthol at any time.
These are strong smells to us, just think of the effect on your dogs!
