I have a friend with a border collie, which seems to be very nervous about nearly everything, especially planes. She sits in her basket looking up at the ceiling, and can hear a plane ages before we know it's there. Her mum has tried  rescue remedy, and even had a woman out to see her that specialises in these things, but to no avail. Recently she has started to bite people coming to the door, even though she knows most of them. She is 'glued' to her mum all the time and it would be lovely to see her 'destressed'for her own sake as well as my friend's sanity! Any ideas where to turn next will be passed on!

How old is your friends dog?  Has she been checked by the Vet to be sure that she has nothing physically wrong?  This would be my first port of call followed by the breeder & then possibly, on Vet & breeder advice a kind behaviourist to come in (www.apbc.co.uk I think?)

Has your friend spoken to her dogs breeder?  They should be able to offer some good help & advice.

It does sound like your friends dog has extra sensitive hearing as one of its problems ~ one of mine is like this & I swear can hear a knat fart a mile away :-D

heh heh! Your reply made me laugh knowing what her hubby is like after a good meal!!(phwaarrrr!) Perhaps she's not hearing planes after all, she's just listening out for the next cheek trembler!! Seriously though, thankyou for the advice, and I'll pass it on straight away.
