Just lastnight I noticed something on sibe bitch 8 years old. How can I put this without sounding too rude. THe area around her back passage as swolen up. The usual just visible opening is really swolen and pink. One side more so than the other. it feels a little hard to touch.
She seems well in everey other way and doesnt seem to bother her.
Any idea what this could be thanks

It sound rather like an infection in the anal sac/s to me but it could be any manner of things including an abcess in the rectum itself, a foreign body stuck or even something nastier :( so I really feel it is important for a vet to have a look sooner rather than later.

we had something that sounds the same a few weeks back. It turned out to be  a small abcess on the anal gland. the vet gave her anitibiotics and said it would probably burst in the next 2 days. Sure enough it went pop the next day. Just had to bathe it and keep clean. It soon cleared up with the antibiotics. Think you need to pop her to vets. HTH

Hi all been to vets and it was a absess on her anal gland. Gave her anti biotics and an anti inflamitry
