Hi,
Just wondered if anyone elses puppy get frightened on windy days??
I took Daisy for a walk today and she seemed to be really scared by the wind and the leaves whirling around-she hasnt been too bothered before-she's also scared of other people walking by us,until they have past then she wants to chase after them!

I think the wind does affect some dogs.
we found that at training class if it was very windy  that the dogs behaved differently and didnt consentrate as well.
Dont react or try to over protect puppy as she will think their is something to be frightened of.
Try to carry on as normal and maybe dont stay out so long if its blustery ...do it in short spurts and she should get used to it.
Puppies can be frightened of the most ridiculous of things mine hates the ironing board because it makes a squeeking sound when I open it and she heads for the hills ! I just completely ignore her reaction and she slowly returns back into the room in her own time.

My older dog goes totally mad when it's windy as well :D He runs up and down the paths in the fields and then stops and digs frantically :D

I took Kai out the other day when it was really windy. forecast said gusts of upto 55mph expected. wind howling nicely through the trees, and my daft dog spent most of the walk stopping and looking behind him to see where the noise was coming from :D

Well, I will try again.  It's very windy here today and our power just went off.  Probably a branch hitting a hydro line.  Think we are getting the tail end of hurricane Rita in Ontario, Canada today.  It is pretty scary as there are big, old trees all around our house and I just hope they all stay up.  And to think it must have been I don't know how many times worse  in Texas and Louisianna.

Wind makes me nervous but does not affect our Lab.  But I wonder, perhaps the dogs are hearing something we can't as the wind, moves around objects and screams, howls, whistles?  Maybe there is a high pitched sound they can hear but we can't?
