Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Knitting of Coat

I wonder if someone could help, one of my puppy owners has phoned to say that the puppy is knitting the other dogs coat out and it is coming out in clumps, is there any thing that they could put on the other dogs coat to stop the pup from doing this, like us humanswe can put stuff on our nails to stop us biting them. Any suggestion would help.

Thank you

I had a dog that did this to 2 of my dogs. Turned out he just needed something extra to chew -he got raw chicken wings and stopped chewing fur.

You can get anti chew spray (pump spray) from Pets at Home, it contains Bitrex (same as that for nails) its worked on my ear suckers ;) ;)

>> Bitrex (same as that for nails

could have the opposite affect as i used bitrex nail stuff to stop biting my nails years ago, after the first few nibbles got used to the taste and carried on biting :D
have stopped now thankfully :)

I add some lavender oil to it ;) they then associate the smell with the bad taste and refrain from even starting again ;)

This has lost me - I have visions of a dog with a pair of size 12 pins creating a lovely scarf for winter ... :D :D

Me too.  I was expecting a question on how to gather the dog's undercoat, spin it into wool and knit it.  I know it can be done.

I have a friend who did it

If you knit a hat out of dog wool do you smell like a wet dog in the rain or snow?  Regular sheep's wool can smell when wet, if it is not treated somehow, and I think the treatment removes a lot of the natural oils.

i know the person who wrote the first post,so this was not a troll post.

the puppy is chewing the older dogs coat she just wander what she could do to stop the younger one from doing this, but we do know that other dogs that are related to this dog do it as well
