I feed my dogs on minced meats, such as lamb, chicken, beef and so on, mixed with ukanuba but my dogs are going off the dry food, i was wondering which dry food would be best to mix in with the meat?

If you mix meat with a complete food you're unbalancing the diet. It's better to mix a plain biscuit meal (Winalot, broken bonios, or terrier meal) or rice, or potato, not a complete food, with meat.

Do you have any proof and/or studies that adding fresh foods to dry food unbalances it? :)
Guest i cant really help you with the dry food other than most dogs love royal canin, you could give it a try www.royalcanin.co.uk. Adding fresh foods to a processed diet is a very good idea, the more the better IMHO. I have always incorporated meat, veg etc. into my dogs dry food, they are healthier, better coat etc. than they would be on a 100% processed diet ;)

Logic! ;) If you add more protein (in the form of meat) then the protein/carb/fat balance will be destroyed. And we've all read the studies about the effects of too high a protein level! ;) If you add more
complete food (or a balanced mixture of fresh protein/carb/fat) then the balance will remain the same.

So there is no proof or studies? ;)
So if you have a complete food that is 30% protein and then you add another one that is 25% protein, then nothing is going to change?
Sorry but this whole thing does not make any sense, however i respect your opinion and i shall continue doing what has worked best for me and countless others :)

If you add an equal quantity of a complete food with 25% protein to a complete with 30% protein, the average protein quantity will be 27.5%. If you simply add an equal amount of meat, which is as near 100% protein as makes no odds, the protein level of the meal will rocket to 65%.
Would you feed a complete food that contained 65% protein?
If you read what I wrote ;) you'll see I said it's fine to add fresh food to complete - just make sure what you add doesn't upset the overall balance.
:)

Hailey this is OK if what you add to the complete is in itself fairly balnced, but simnply adding meat (which is not a balnced dietr for a dog on it's own) can cause harm.
I have often fed complete and BARF at the smae time, and add the occasional thing now and then when feeding just complete, but to just add one type of food (meat) to a complete is unbalanceing the diet.
Every day I add a very very small amount (half a slice) of chicken or ham to Suki's Royal Caninn and she is doing great,it actually makes her eat all of her food, when I didnt add anything she was very picky.

JG,
Sorry to contradict you on the protein content of chicken but chicken (eg. breast) isn't 100% protein

if you look here
http://www.lowchensaustralia.com/health/chicken.htm it shows that 3oz raw chicken breast (almost 100g) has 26.7g of protein ;) still very high but not 100% ;)
I still agree that adding just chicken to the complete is a mistake, but it really depends on how much is added and how often too, a tiny amount (teaspoons) of minced raw chicken/other meat is unlikely to do any harm unless the complete food is very high in meat protein, and there aren't too many of those around ;)

True, the protein content of various meats varies - I believe venison is much higher than chicken. I was trying to get across how adding an equal quantity of protein to a complete food unbalances it.
The guest was originally asking what should be fed with the meat - and adding complete to meat is a bad idea. You want a plain mixer for that - which is what I said in my reply! ;) :D
Jeangenie is correct. We always mix wholemeal bicuit,(puppy crushed if necessary)with fresh meat or freshly grilled or boiled white fish, boneless of course. If you add complete pellets to meat, the balance will be knocked out.We find that all dogs have different likes and dislikes and it is a load of baloney when you read that every meal can be the same for all dogs - day in and day out ,as they will look forward to this regardless.Well for dogs on a starvation diet I may agree, but my dogs know exactly what they like and as long as it is good wholesome food then they get what they like.
PS.We do tend to feed the older picky pups and old timers, on Whelpi milk formula mixed with SA37 vitamin powder. We mix with warm water and spoon gently (accurate doseage). The SA37 clogs up the syringes, but you can use the syringes for just the milk formula.
Hi guest dogs digest raw food at a diffenrt rate than dry mix why not feed dry in the moring and raw at night
just a thought
