This might be a daft question but I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about nerve regeneration following nerve damage?

My GSD had a spinal op 9 months ago to decompress the spinal cord and remove a ruptured disc.  Roughly 3 months after surgery, his back got very sensitive and ticklish which I understand is symbolic of the nerves regenerating.  Roughly three months ago, the sensitivity stopped and his back returned to normal.  But lately it's started again.  Does anyone know if this is usual with nerve regeneration, does it stop and then start again?  Just wondering.......

Well. going on what happened after similar operations on my wrists (carpel tunnel was too compressed) I'd say yes, nerve regeneration seems to go in fits and starts, and can go on like this for quite some time :)

Hope this helps
Regards
Dill

Thanks Dill, I was wondering if there was anyone who might have had an experience with nerve regeneration and could let me know if the nerves regenerate in fits and starts.
Pretty amazing stuff.  When he's getting his back groomed at the moment, he's wiggling and twitching again, bless him. :-D
