The last couple of days my 4 month old puppy has a yellowy sleepy discharge in his eyes, in the morning it is worse when he wakes up, although his eyes do not appear sticky.   I bathe them and clean them in the morning, but I have noticed he has also got a bit during the day.  He seems perfectly fine in himself. just seems strange that his has happened only in the last couple of days.  Just wondered if anyone had any ideas.  Thanks

Hi Kizzy what breed is he?

It sounds like you really need to take him to the vet because it sounds like an eye infection.

He is a GSD.  Not too much confidence in my Vets, last time I went with my older GSD for an upset tummy they gave me Tagamet, which I could have bought in the chemist myself, checked her over gave her antibiotics and it cost £70 !!! I dont mind how much I spend on my dogs, but I just wondered if there was anything anyone could recommend for his eyes....if not the VETS it is.

Yellow discharge would normally indicate an infection of some sort, so it really should be seen by a vet for an antibiotic ointment to be prescribed - eyes are one thing I wouldn't want to chance it with :(

Hello my pup came home with something like that when we went to local vet so i changed vet,i took him to a different one and it was conjunctivitus (not sure if spelling is right) in my case and i was given some cream to go in his eyes for a couple of days which cleared up nicely. i now use a different vet.

When my dobe was young he had mucky eyes quite often, and I was told that it would stop after he had finished teething.  It did, he doesn't get it anymore.  Mind you his wasn't a yellowy discharge.  I did take him to the vet and they found nothing wrong with him.

what i find fantastic for eyes and have used it on my cat, dogs and my horses is cold/warm tea using the tea bag to rub over the eyes, (no milk or ugar) i do that for about two days, fantastic results

The thing is Kizzy you would really be better going the vet and getting it checked out because you dont know what your treating.
