My Great Dane is 5 years young. He had no lumps to start with, but had weight loss, diorreah, lethargy and not much appetite. You can read his story on the "Visitors questions" Heading "Great Dane needs to gain weight". I really hope your dog will be ok. I think if you catch these things early, which you obviously have, even if it turns out to be something "nasty" you have a much better chance of getting it treated.
Keeping fingers and paws crossed for good news.

It is just as well to get them checked out, but certainly one of my Labs has a lot of what are described as 'fatty lumps'. They just appear and get to about the size of a couple of peas (although he has got one that is as big as a ping pong ball). Humans can get them too my OH has several :) Totally harmless unless they are in a difficult place and get caught on things.
Hi Tishtash,
My border collie x started getting lumps, usually on her abdomen, when she was approx 15months. She usually got them after a boisterous play with other dogs. When I took her to the vets, he said they were haematomas or bleeds under the skin caused by knocking and banging herself when playing and they just disappeared after a few days. She then developed a different kind of lump- a sort of pea size hard lump on her head. The vet removed this as it was abit suspect but it turned out to be a simple fatty lump. We did discover that she has a bloodclotting disorder when this lump was taken off ( the wound wouldn't heal until 3wks and blood transfusion later ) and this was probably why she kept getting the haematomas. If your dog is well otherwise and not losing weight it's probably nothing sinister. I really feel for you though because lumps in young dogs are a worry and we always fear the worse.
Let us know how you get on. xx Liz
Well Molly had her op today she is not good,a sorry sight and 1 of the wounds is swelling so need to go back tomorrow if it hasnt gone down and drain it off (great) but 1 of the lumps they said was like a milk gland that may be a result of a phantomn pregnancy which I said I thought I would of known about and also isnt it to far away from the teat to be milk gland which she said well yes to which I replyed so it isnt normal then and she said well no!!!the other 1 is different and suspect and to top it off they found another 1 they had to take out so it is a waiting game for the results I will keep you all posted but to be honest I get the impression that the vets are baffled to......so 3 wounds and £350(thankgod for insurance)later I still am no less worried but thanks for your comments I like the support.
