Reading the free ads this moring and came across this ad
Alsatian or German Shepherd,
between the ages of 1 - 3 years, must be free, must be house trained, for somebody who has lots of time to spend, no time wasters.
Its the same bloody breed for one and they want you to raise feed house train your dog then give it away to them for free
what a joke!

Maybe they are looking for a dog which someone no longer wants, I dont think they are asking a breeder to raise and train a pup.

and I think you will find that although Alsation / GSD are the same breed they are different types ;)

They are one & the same breed & the UK name is GSD(Alsatian)

Thats what I said they are the same breed but after reading the debates on here I understand that the GSD and Alsation are the two variations of that breed. 

There  are no names for the "types"it is the people who cling to the style of dog that was bred in the UK in the 1950's & 1960's that call their dogs Alsatians & of course the GP who think erroneously that "Alsatians"have short coats & GSD long coats or vica cersa. Being involved in GSD rescue we get amazing phone calls for people wanting dogs or wanting rid of them. Especially the ones that want an Alsation(sic)as they like a "pedigree"& not the Alsatian cross sheepdog !When questioned further they say "You know the German ones they are crossed with border collies, I want an Alsation the Guard dog ones !" You can't win just like people who call labrador retrievers just retrievers ! & Goldies(yuk Goldie was the Blue Peter dog not a breed)instead of Goldens ! Then you get the King Charles Cavaliers ! Highland White Terriers

It's one of my pet hates when the GP at shows say "I've got a King Charles just like yours" & when you try to tell them they get very upset I have a friend who has both & we show them the difference & they still don't get it !
