Hi guys

I move into my brand new house in two weeks.. I have got the builders to paint every room white as I want it to be inkeeping with the house (modern)  I really wanted white walls etc and the colour to come from the curtains, cushions or curtains/bedding etc and pictures.  does anyone know any good sites for helping pull ideas to gether ie getting pictures knick nacks and curtains etc all to match.  i am having a bit of a nightmare at the mn and wished I just painted the house cream it might have been easier.

hope someone can help

Doesn't look like people on here on much into interior design does it? Don't know any sites for such things as into minimalist look myself, all plain looking walls and little in the way of furniture and few carpets  Actually not so much as minimalist look as low maintenance (life's too short to hoover and dust look).  Why don't you just browse the catalogues and shops (Paul Simon curtains, big dept stores with showrooms etc) and see what grabs your fancy.  White in every room is brave though - have you got any dogs or kids?

Have a look in Next, most of their stuff is all meant to compliment each other. I think they have a bit of the home stuff on their website, but they have much more if you go to a proper Next Home store (if you are anywhere near it, the one in the Trafford Centre, Manchester, is very good)

Lucky you anyway, I love my house, but I also love shopping, especially for things for the house :D Hope it all goes well :D

I go to my local fabric factory shop. I have used very cheap fabric remnants in a variety of ways (in clip frames, stretched over a cheap wooden frame to make wall-hangings, recover seats of chairs etc). I also have had most of my soft furnishings made (luckily my Mum is a dab hand with a sewing machine as I am utterly talentless in that department) and it works out really cheap....floor to ceiling curtians for my patio doors in suede for next to nothing, and then co-ordinating colours of suede for sofa cushions etc. Cheap and effective :) I find the high-street stores overpriced and a bit bland for my own personal taste although I alway check them out at sale times and have picked up a few interesting bargains over the years ;)

Sorry, don't know of any websites off-hand but there are loads of interiors magazines available which are good for inspiration and stockists details. My favourite is Living Etc which I subscribed to for a couple of years. I kept all the copies and they now get passed around among friends and family when they are planning to move house or redecorate :)

Ive just made some really nice curtains (well i like them) for my bedroom.

I have a VERY OTT victorian style brass and cast iron bedframe that dominates the room so have gone all out!

Colour scheme is dark red/crimson and cream..... so the curtains are deep red fabric underneath, with cream voile that has gold stars on it over the top. The effect is really nice... it would have been nicer if i could be bothered to make PROPER curtains, but i got bored after hemming allt he material (have you tried hemming voile?) and NAILED them to the walls LOL.

when the room is finished, three walls will be cream, and the back wall that the bed is against will be dark red with Mucha-esque semi naked ladies painted on it either side of the bed.

Sounds awful but it will look very good (she hopes).
