I hate having to "have words" with people.  I'm responsible for Security at work and have had an issue with a Security Guard on our site.  I spoke his his Ops Manager and asked him to have a word with him which he did on Saturday but on coming back yesterday he was still doing what I'd specifically asked for him not to do!!

I've just had to take him into a room and explain once again why I didn't want him to be doing these things and that it needs to stop.

I really don't like having to do that - I've come out with shakey hands!!  :-(

OOh Big {{{hug}}} I know how that is, one of the worst parts of 'being in charge'. Although I have yet to decide if it is worse to get no real reaction or floods of tears! Just remember that it is always in their best interest to be told early and often, but it is entirely up to them if they choose to toe the line or take the consequences.

Thanks Bluebell :-)  I really hate having to do this kind of thing.  I had asked him nicely about 4 times before speaking to his Ops Manager but he just took no notice and so left me with no choice but to have to speak to him myself.

I didn't get tears and he was quite shirty with me - I think he finds it hard to have someone younger than him (he's approx 60 and I'm 28) in charge.

I hope that I dealt with him sensitively and can now just wait and hope that he'll have taken notice of what I've said and act on it - otherwise I'll have to ask for him to be removed from our site.

Thing is - his wife died a while ago and he's struggling with his medication (he's diabetic) and his mood does tend to swing up and down.  I'm aware of all of this and don't want to push him too far but at the end of the day I have to think of my company's best interests and the reflection his behaviour has on our Visitors.

Still - at least I think I dealt with it a little better than his Ops Manager who just told him to "stop freaking people out"  not very constructive if you ask me!!

PS ( whispering)   :-) :-D . I take it nobody at works knows you are a champdogger. Just incase someone read this.  It is amazing what comes up on the net these days with names attached.  Might be worth taking your name off your profile. :-)
