My Border terrier pup is drinking what seems to be a lot of water!! I leave some in her area and constantly I can her her lapping it up - which results in a lot of urinating!!
What do you think it is? Is it normal for a pup to do this?

Any suggestions welcome

What are you feeding her? If you feed a dry food, are you wetting it before you give it to her, or does she get it dry? If so then she'll need to drink a lot to be able to digest it and not dehydrate herself.

Hi Pickles, our 16 wk old BT pup seems to drink alot of water too.  He's on dry food.  Doesn't help with house training though does it?!!

What is a lot?

The only way you can be sure is by measuring and monitoring her intake over say a week, making sure that she is not spilling it and taking into consideration her diet, exercise levels, temperature, humidity etc and comparing it with the "average" intake.

Bear in mind that a puppy, like a baby, needs more water per ilb of bodyweight than an adult.
