I feed my dog nature diet and have done so for a number of months. Previous to this we had all sorts of goings on with runny poos, prescription meals, tests, etc. Nothing showed. Since then everything has been fine. Only I think my dog is now becoming a bit bored of the nature diet varieties, despite the fact that it took a lot to find something that was right for her. I am nervous about changing it, but I think a bit of variety might interest her. Any advice much appreciated.

Hi Karen, I'm afraid I don't agree that dogs need a varied diet. If you have found a food that your dog will eat, keeps her in good bodily condition and makes good poos, then stick with it. In my opinion dogs eat to satisfy hunger, not for want of a change or variety. Thats just my thoughts though. I would think that in reality, it is you that is bored of the food, not the dog. :)

When you say 'bored' is the dog leaving food in its bowl. If the food hasn't been eaten after ten mins I'd lift the bowl and feed less next time. Kind regards Clare

Nursey, I took on board your comments and gave them careful thought. After a couple of days though, I have to say I stand by what I said originally. I have watched Rosie sniff and walk away from her food before introducing a small handful of JWB to the nature diet and watched. Rosie picked out the jwb and ate that only. I just hope that it doesn't start a major upset tummy as before. I know some people feed a dry at one meal and then a wet at another. Perhaps I should go down that route. Oh I'm fed up of not knowing what to do. (grumpy face) (haven't found out how to do them).

Why not try adding a small amount ofsomething to her Natures Diet? Normally I'm against adding anything to complete foods but it works with picky eaters. For instance some gravy over the food will do no harm. My own favourite is cat food. If you use the stuff in gravy a spoonful well mixed in will coat all of the complete food and most dogs love it.
