Hi all...I have a new problem.Matilda has just come back in season, her pups are only 6 weeks old.For those of you who don't know Matilda is only just over a year old and unfortunately I was unable to stop my other dog mateing her, although every effort was made...topic "too young but it happened"
The male dog Merlin has gone to stay with a friend this time but is pineing badly.
My question is if I get him castrated this week can he come home or will he still be fertile for a time.
Thought I had at least another couple of months before Matilda would come in season,so had'nt rushed to get him done as I am dreading it...never know when things can go wrong and he's such a happy chappy.
Thanks all Kay

hello ! he can be fertile for up to six weeks after the operation !! and ive known dogs try to mate the minute they go home after the op even if they are feeling a bit sore !!!sorry but he's going to have to stay away !!!!!

I thought they were fertile for much longer than that after the "op"
