Topic Other Boards / Foo / Collodial Silver???
- By Emily Rose [gb] Date 15.09.05 21:55 UTC
I'm really just trying to find out a bit more about this as I'm hoping it may help one of my rats, hence why I've put this in Foo. She has a tumour which has ulcerated, she has been to the vet(was only there Monday actually) a few times as I just want reassurance that I'm doing the right thing with her. We tried a short term course of anti biotics but they had little effect and she is fine in herself, eating drinking, cleaning herself, playing with others etc but this tumour does worry me. We know it will kill her, eventually, I found another small lump in her arm pit the other day so it is spreading but this ulcerated tumour is a nasty thing. My vet, who I trust, said the smell is termed necrosis, ie the dead cells decaying(sorry to gross anyone out!), there is sometimes a discharge but she cleans it pretty well herself.
Anyhoo, enough rambling, would ths Collodial Silver help? I've read it could be sprayed on then a topical cream applied, what kind of cream does it mean? Has anyone uesd this stuff and been impressed, where could I buy it from?
Hope someone can help
Emily.. and Darcie :)

Hi Emily,

Sorry about your little rat :(  Try this LINK which may help explain it a bit better.  I've no idea whether it would be useful in your position unfortunately.

Good luck & best wishes, Teri :)

You can buy in in most health food shops but dont get it from Holland and Barrett. If you have any problems let me know and I will get some and post it to you.

Why not H&B abby?

Thanks for the link Teri, it was really interesting and I also had a search about for some more info on ulcerated tumours and its, as I thought, not good news for her :( Apparently if they ulcerate that usually means they are quite aggressive and likely to spread(as they have). But I do think the position of the tumour has something to do with it ulcerating, if it was on her back, for instance, I doubt it would have done what it has.
Anyway, I think I will continue my research for a few days and maybe fire off some emails to peeps in the know
Thanks again :)

You could try tincture of Echinacea Augustifolia orally in chronic dosage

Good luck Emily Rose - I hope you find something which will help.  Many years ago I bred fancy mice and I know all too well how attached I got to them and so can appreciate that you will be anxious to do what you can for your little friend.  I hope that you're able to keep her longer and in good spirits - they are our pets, regardless of species, and we naturally love them and want them to have as full, healthy and happy a life as possible.

Best wishes, Teri :)

You could also search for info on Manuka Honey. It helps to heal leg and internal ulcers, ulcerated wounds, abcesses etc. so may help your rat. :-)

The Collodial Silver that Holland and barrett sell isnt as pure as health food shops they had added alot of stuff to it for some reason and they charge alot more for theirs.
