You need to buy one that is the length of the dog and a bit extra so the dog can lie down and stretch out fully. If you go to a champ show you can see a cage 'in the flesh' and see what size you need you can also try different cages and see which one are better quality. Price varies depending on what make you buy.  But remember if you are buying it for a puppy try and separate it in half as when it is too big it encourages the puppy to soil in one end and smaller cage can help make the pup feel secure. Then when it is bigger you can make it a full cage again. Hope this helps ;)

Hi according to the crate charts for rotties (full grown) either a 42" (107cm) or 48" (122cm) and thats the length measurement, which i have found is how most specify the size of crate :)

Also, the dog should be able to sit in it without bumping his head.

I would definately say a 48" crate.

I would say you need to buy the one that is 42inches long x 30 inches high, by I think 27/28 inches wide, that is the size all my friends with Dobermanns use.

I have this size in one of the 'Light N Easy' Fabric ones and can get 3 of my 20 inch at shoulder dog in one comfortably at shows.
