Did anybody see this frontline report when it was on tv? I downloaded it and I am absolutely appalled. The quality isn't great but the sound works well. It makes me so angry that people get away with this. I think that these puppy farmers should be subjected to the same conditions that they keep those poor dogs in. Selling puppies with parvovirus and transporting over 100 dogs in one normal sized trailer amongst other things!

Hope this link works if not just copy and paste it: http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/video/40196000/rm/_40196217_frontlinepuppies_vi.ram

It's disgraceful. I just wish members of the public knew more about it before they buy pups from people who advertise several breeds in the one advert.

sorry if this is a topic that nobody wants to hear about. I was just so shocked I had to post the link.

thanks for posting that link....
I feel so sick and disgusted . Hope they get the bill passed, it will atleast be a start to stopping this awful trade.
If only we could stop people from buying in the first place. :-(

We can help - we can start by educating 'everyone' we know who is in the process of or thinking of getting a puppy to either go to a reputable breeder (sites like this one can help there) or to go to their local rescue centres.

Yes i tried that one a few months ago, my friend wanted a puppy, so i was very helpful in explaining why you buy from reputable breeders etc, gave her lots of info and where to find more, you get the picture :-)
A week later is was "we're not going to get one now, havent got the time for a puppy"
4 Days after that found out her OH had taken them all out (kids included) bought a puppy , knew nothing about the breed, turned out it was from a puppy farmer......

What I find sickening is that the puppy farmers say they will take the puppy back if it isnt what the buyer wants, what happens to that poor little puppy.  You can see why people hold onto these poor little scraps, they don't want the pup to go back to the farm because they know in thier heart of hearts that it will probalby die as its not worth the farmer treating any illness (cuts into his profit).  They strive to make its life happier and then after all the work they find they have a dog with poor temprement.  It is a vicious cirlce and we need more programes like this to open peoples eyes to what is going on.  Look at all the fuss there was transporting meat animals and the concern for thier welfare.  How can we as humans treat mans best friend like this.

Following on from that, a petition against Welsh Puppy farms can be found at http://www.saynotopuppyfarms.org.uk/
