Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / price of a standard poodle puppy?
- By Guest [gb] Date 12.09.05 13:37 UTC
Hi, here's a question: what would be a reasonable price to pay for a standard poodle puppy of pet/show quality? the one i'm looking at is a blue bitch with champions in her pedigree, they are asking £800 for her, is this the norm? & forgot to say she is kc reg, with all testing done etc.
Thanks for your help.

A general price is about £600/£650 now.  Although mine are from show winning parents I never sell as show puppies, unlike some breeders who do and have never shown their dogs in their life.

As far as a "blue" dog is sold as a show puppy, it is an extremely difficult colour to show with, as the true colour will not come through until they are about 3 years old and as they change they can actually look a strange muddy colour.

What is the colour of the parents and what are the colours at the back of the pedigree?  I sold a litter last year from my white bitch and blue dog, but registered them as black, but explained to my owners that there would be a strong possiblity that some would turn blue and could then be re-registered.  Because they had seen the father they were quite happy with that.
