About 9 months ago my Samoyed started to yelp/bark whilst having a poo, I first thought he was constipated but he wasnt, this went on for some time I took him to the vets and to cut a long story short he tried various diets, had exrays (and camera up his bum) but could not find anything medically wrong.
As anyone had this problem with their dog? It is very distressing and embarassing.

Does he sound in pain or not? :)
Only it could be behavioural as well as or instead of physical. ie if he got attention for barking when doing it he may have decided to carry on - bizarre but you never know. If he;s in pain - hard to say :(

Maybe his poos are hard and so  hurt him when they come out? Humans can sometimes get problems like that.

My daughter had a problem with constipation once when I was potty training her.  After that she was so worried about poos being painful that she would get distressed when she needed to go.  I know dogs are not people but perhaps it is a learnt behaviour like that.

The only other thing I can think of is that is he is well proud of what he is doing and wants everyone to know about it! lol
