I have a dalmatian who has just turned 1 in June. She is now on her 2nd break / season and yesterday got caught with a dog through the gate - not actually sure if anything happened but I am taking her to the vet today for the injection. Does anyone know how much this costs.
Also I am now thinking about getting her sterilized but to be honest don't know much about this. Can anyone help by advising me about the benefits and any disadvantages of doing this.
She had a phantom pregnancy after her last season so I believe getting her sterilized would put a stop to these.
Many thanks in advance.

I think it depends on the vet but I asked recently about my GSP which is not that dissimiliar in size and they said £150 odd (can't remember exactly).
That price sounds about right. My spaniel cost £80ish and she was only 7months and tiny. The price goes up with the size.
The advantages are no more seasons or phantoms and no more worries about matings. The disadvantages are possible leakage of urine forever afterwards. Some dogs also put on weight. As someone with 3 dalmatian bitches they are prone to phantoms and a good friend of mine lost a bitch to cancer caused by her constantly getting lumps in her breast. To be honest nobody can say how much these things are going to cost as each vet varies.
