...tie your dogs to the metal paper stands outside newsagents.

On Friday I was standing outside the shop I work in when I heard an almighty clatter. Coming towards me was a very young boxer puppy, trailing one of these stands. The poor puppy was terrified :( I now have a very large bruise on my left arm where the stand hit me as I stopped the puppy running onto the main road. Thankfully the pup is fine. Though I think it will take some time for all involved to recover. ;)

If you must tie your dogs outside, then please find somewhere permanent to do it, like the dog hook.

I've seen alot of people do that, id never do it mine would be in the shop with it in seconds.
If i do ever tie mine its normally to the ring on the wall i dont like dog hooks as mine would get the lead if those. Hope your arm feels better soon :)

We had a Jack Russell many years ago and we did exactly that. It was very scarey and very dangerous. I suppose the noise of it clattering behind it makes it more nervous. Would never leave my dogs unattended now encase someone took a liking to them. They can easily be picked up and they are so friendly I'm not sure they would make any noise. Better safe than sorry

the best thing to do in this climate of current dog thefts would be never to tie your dogs outside a shop full stop. If you have to leave your dog outside while you go shopping its better to take a friend with you to hold the dog, and if you cant, then maybe the dog would be safer left at home?
Theres so many dogs stolen nowadays its just not worth the risk
