I've jut been on the SHCGB website and found the Colwyn bay Husky weekend. it sounds really good fun! Especially as they want people with rescue sibes to come and join in the rally. I was just looking for a litle more information and what people have made of it in the past. I'll be sending off for the brochure this weekend.

Hiya,
Can't really help you on what its like as this year will be my first time too :D But heard from lots of people that it is GREAT fun :) Can't wait :D :D :D
Going to be a mini Holiday for me and the furries, a great way to help welfare and have fun at the same time.

It should be a mini holiday for me too. If I can get there because I only found out about it yesterday!
Well, I've just been researching the place and there are cottages to let nearby which welcome dogs. And you can get to Colwyn Bay by train from Euston and Crewe. The cottages are only £100 for a weekend. They're fully fitted and heated. Beats staying in a caravan or tent!

what do you want to know? as i have been to the last 3 or 4 weekends now and might be able to help?

Well, just what it's like. Where you stay. How dog friendly is the place and is it worth going al the way up to North Wales if you live nowhere near the place.

Here's a link to some photos of the event last year

There's lots of things going on throughout the weekend but the brochure will give you the full details and approx timings. The weekend is aimed at anyone who is interested in huskies whether they own one or not. Some events you do need to be a club member to enter, but there is also an companion dog show which anyone can enter on the day and there's talks on different aspects of the breed, eg for people thinking of getting a husky.
That is a really good site. Thanks for that! The pictures were really good. Makes me want to go even more now!
Most of us husky owners usually sleep in our vans on site. I believe camping is available elsewhere and the details are in the CB brochure.
Events include:
Fun runs on the sat and sun around the park with 2-4 dog teams
Its a Knockout activites with your dogs (generally in fancy dress)
The Pursuit ( two teams head to head around an arena, the winner moving on to compete in the next round and so on)
Companion dog show (most handsome dog, etc etc)
Welfare dog parade
Quiz on the sat night (I think)
Currynight on Sun
SHCGB Merchandise
Raffle/auction (proceeds to welfare)
various informative talks
dog chiropractor
canicross
Uhhhhhh, think thats it
Last year there was an opportunity to have your dog micro chipped as well.
