Im going to be showing my Sibes at a show this weekend. Ive never done it before. Its a family fun day for charity so just going for the day out really. Im just hoping the place isnt full of profesionals who take it serious and I end up showing myself up. Any tips please. Thanks

Relax, enjoy it and just have it as a fun day out.  Not many professionals go, although I must admit I love going to them.

Good luck :d

Thanks. No i have done no ringcraft classes. I have been to shows before so I have an idea what goes on but it will be different being in the ring myself. Actually my teanage daughter is very excited about it and wants to do the handling. I might just let her.
Not sure what type of show it is. Just says 24 pedigree classes and then theres so many mongrel classes. All money  goes to a local hospice.

blooming heck 24 pedigree classes ???? where is the show its usually only around 4-8 pedigree and 8-10 novelty classes   it sounds like a companion show .....they're great fun dont forget to take a pin for your number ! I recon you should have a go yourself you'll love it honest .

When you go in the ring stand your dog and the judge usually has a quick look around.... he may then ask you all to go once or twice around in a cirlce when it is your turn he will ask you to stand your dog as he has a look at him he will look in his mouth and give him the once over then he will either ask you to do a triangle plus up and down in a straight line  or twice around the ring in a circle and up and down in a straight line then stand your dog for one last look and then get back in line watch.... when he is nearly finished as he will then ask you to stand your dogs again for a last look and then he will choose basically thats it .......have a good time remember to smile and enjoy it ( I forgot that bit)

Lets all know how you got on!!

I think the new rule for companion shows is max 10 pedigree classes? It used to be 4 but they increased it. It could be that it isn't a KC licensed Companion show, anything called just "Fun show" or "Dog rally" or whatever usually isn't, and they can be just as much fun. :)

Don't be afraid to tell the judge/ steward you have never done it before and could they help you. :)

At last companion show my grandad did ped classes and I did novelty and just before the show started a lady came upto me and asked if we could tell her how it works.  Gave her a quick demo on how to stand a staffy (demonstrated with a setter  and told her the routin of it.  She went in and didn't look out of place against the other "professional" handlers!!!!!

Moral, take on what you are told and learn! :)

Oh and enjoy yourself, win or loose!!! :D
