Just a quickie for all of you in the peterborough area. I read in the local paper about several causes of parvo especially round the Goldhay area and just thought I flag it up for any other locals in case they hadn't heard. 6 dogs have unfoutunately died and although the vets are saying to remain calm its still worth noting they are advising dogs be walked on a short lead and all waste products are cleared up (I know we all do it but there are the shelfish ones who look the other way even if the field is a school playing field aswell ). Hope all dogs in peterborough (and else where) keep safe.

Apparently there have also been a couple of cases in the Northampton area, how true this is i'm not sure. :-(

There has been a huge increase of parvo in recent months in different areas around the country.  :(

Apparently a Sibe that went to Birmingham champ show last weekend has died of Parvo.Don't know who's it is, but very sad. Hope there are no more cases. If you went to the show, keep a close eye on your dogs.

The Peterborough cases were highlighted on Anglia TV this week - a beautiful 6 month old fully vaccinated golden retriever had died. One of the Northampton vets from our practice was talking about Parvo. It seems there is a possibility that this may be a new strain. :-(

Can I just ask if anyone else has the same views as me - I read on another forum of people who do not get their animals vacinated as they believe it's hype from the drug companies and other such comments, instead they use the homeopathic approach - ok, maybe homeopathic remedies can work for some illnesses but it seems to me that maybe parvo is back on the increase due to people not getting their dogs vacinated against it ?
