Can anybody explain the difference between these 2 foods.
I usually feed Autarky, but have been having trouble buying it, often sold out, too popular I guess!.
Gusto was suggested as a good alternative. I can easily get Gusto when I order online from Tesco, and have it delivered to the door, all for 4.99 for a large sack, but is it any good??
Thanks

Hiya
We have fed Autarky for over 2 years now and it really seems to suit the dogs(German Poionters) but recently a friend sold me 3 bags of Gusto for £10 and it was AWFUL!. Although the dogs ate it, the amount of waste I was clearing up next day was twice as with the Autarky and quite sloppy. I think you get what you pay for. We mixed it in with the Autarky for a bit but then just threw the rest. I certainly would not recommend you use it but someone else might have different views. HTH

0870 442 3322 is their helpline telephone number. Give them a call and ask for a list of stockists. They don't seem to have a website up and running at the moment.
I prefer Autarky to Gusto and it seems to suit tummies better but I have used Gusto in the past. It seems to be just cheaper ingredients.

I use Gusto for all mine and all my dogs do well on it. :) It's slightly less protein than Autarky and I believe there are herbs in Autarky? (I can only get Gusto.)

Man I knew at a dog show used to sell both. They are both the same apparently, but the gusto doesn't have the herbs. He said he would take a bag of each amd mix them together.

I feed Autarky and I have fed Gusto, the poos on Gusto were very very firm and white

:D (my one dog used to have to work quite hard - ouch) but there were more of them although having said that they were tiny ;) the main difference is that Gusto has 25% Meat (min) and Autarky has 28% (min) Chicken, Gusto has 'Cereals' and Autarky has Maize and is wheat/gluten free ;) Autarky has herbs and the fat content in Autarky is slightly higher. Autarky has natural preservatives and Gusto has a chemical preservative (no different to Pedigree, Beta etc.) I have to admit that both my dogs did very well on Gusto but as I am wheat allergic its easier for me to handle Autarky ;) You also need to feed alittle more gusto per day ;) but this isn't that much more ;)
Hope this helps
Although I have never seen Gusto or fed it, I have been told that the cereal part of it is made of leftovers. Can't remember where I had heard it from though. I feed Autarky to one of my dogs and he seems to be fine on it.
I have fed both. Though I would prefer to feed Autarky, my dogs actually look better on Gusto. I tend to mix the two together, but give more Gusto. If that makes sense? ;)

Gusto may well contain or be made of left overs, but they still have to be a certain quality ;) I tend to look as well at what a food doesn't contain ;) and there are no 'various sugars' colourants or unnecessary ingredients in it and to me that is as important as what is put in ;)
