How can I train Oscar to wait quietly while I go into shops/the school etc?
He goes completely loopy and makes a terrible noise.
He is fine when I leave him at home and never barks or is destructive. He is also happy to be left in the car if I pop into a shop or something.
Any ideas please? :)

He is probably telling you not to leave him there as someone could steal him. ;)  Seriously though, we all used to do it years ago, but there are too many dog thefts around these days.

I think it depends on where you live and if you can see your dogs from where you are.  I live in a village and often tie up the boys outside the local shop where I can keep an eye on them from inside the shop :)

I would teach the sit stay and stay with him then gradually move further away and extend the time until you are out of sight :)

Thanks Claire - I'll try that :)

I know it's not ideal, but there are always lots of other poeple around at the school who know Oscar.
If I didn't take him he'd miss out on alot of opportunities for walks which would be a shame.
When we go to the shops my eldest waits outside with him but he still creates havoc and has everyone covering their ears!
Thanks anyway :)
