I purchased Quistel shampoo and lotion after reading up on skin conditions on here so thought i would give it a try now while i was happily spraying my pup with this lotion i realised that someone had painted over a part of the ingredients with red nail polish so it looked the same as the colour of the bottom of the bottle tried to remove it but wiped off what was underneath so i tihught i would take a look at the shampoo box and to my suprise they had stuck a sticker with ingredients over the old ingredients but missing out the same one which i later discovered to be propylene glycol which apparently is used in antifreeze any thoughts

Why not e mail the company rather that asking people on here who have no way of knowing why this was done ? Just a thought ;)

As EU Law state that the contents much be correctly listed & it is made in the Netherlands they have to comply with the EU law

From their site

"Quistel® products are 100% natural , no chemical ingredients added!

The 25 plant extracts of which Quistel® is made contain lots of vitamins, minerals and proteins. All plants are especially grown for us on selected grounds in France"

This might allay your fears Ethylene Glycol  is the compound that causes the problem, "Propylene glycol is generally regarded as safe for use in food."

Jeez I don't know the answer but have supplied you with information to show that you have appear to have been confused about the two  glycols, one being harmful & one not

Why didn't you add that you had e mailed the company ?

My first thought is that they're using old boxes for a new-formula product.
- By happygirlie [gb] Date 06.09.05 21:33 UTC
could well be an old box
- By Moonmaiden Date 06.09.05 21:37 UTC
or that the printing was wrong

In any case in the USA

"The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has classified propylene glycol as an additive that is "generally recognized as safe" for use in food. It is used to absorb extra water and maintain moisture in certain medicines, cosmetics, or food products. It is a solvent for food colors and flavors."

Quistel used to contain Propylene Glycol but is no longer on their list of ingredients. I think you've most likely got the new formula in old packaging therefore nothing to worry about. :-)
