Hello everyone, im kat

Im a newbee to this site and im in need of some advice.

Me and my partner currently own 2 english bull terriers, im not sure if anybody else on this site owns this breed of dog but any help and advise would be great.

We have a 7 month old bull terrier pup called Ali, and he still has a floppy ear, we have tried numerous ways of tryin to get it to stand up and non which have worked as yet. Most bull terriers ears are up by this time and were both getting a bit worried that his ear will remain floppy.

If anybody at all has any ideas, help or advise to how we can help his ear up we would very much appreciate recieving it.

Hope to speak to you soon,

Kat

hi
i have a staffie and his ears don't prick up. (the only thime they do is if he hears something)

Have you asked a vet or someone who knows more about the breed?

Hope I could help in someway and good luck in finding a solution!

But Staffies' ears aren't supposed to prick up! The breed standard says:

Ears:
Rose or half pricked, not large or heavy. Full, drop or pricked ears highly undesirable.

yeah! suppose your right.

Just ali said that bull breeds have pricked up ears.

Just trying to help out.

Sorry if my reply was no use to you.

In all fairness though, it wouldn't matter to me if he had pricked up ears as long as they were healthy ears!

Ashleigh

p.s. sorry again!

No Ali said that she has bull terriers, which should have pricked ears. ;)

Bull terriers are a different breed to Staffordshire bull terriers.

No problem! We've all misread things in posts many times! :) It's always good to get things explained though. :)

WOW, quick responses, thank you.

The floppy ear thing is classed as a fault in the showring also in breeding. We are hoping to show him one day also to use him as stud, he has an excellent pedigree and quite a few are champions. I hade someone tell me that it was a dead nerve but i didnt think this was possible as he still has feeling in it, surely if it was a dead nerve the feeling would not be there??? Is that right??? i dont no?

Again, thank you for the quick replys, hoping to get as many as possible to try help with the floppiness : )
