register champagne blue staffords?
i have been having a dicussion on the phone tonight with my friend who is looking to buy a staffie pupapparently she has been in touch with what i would call a novice breeder that doesn't know this breed particulary well.

she was told that the breed does not suffer with health problems therefore her dogs need not be tested for anything,
my dogs are very healthy, and apparently the kennel club registers champagne blues.
i told her to keep away from this breeder and get in touch with the breed clubs,i also said from the impession that the breeder has very little knowlege within the breed.
i can only hope that my friend listens to me and buys from a good breeder.

This was discussed a few days ago, search for champagne staffies and you will find it :D I think the answer turned out to be no they don't recognise the colour and that it is a dilute of another colour, but it is all in the post.

i know that colour as far as i am aware doesn't exsist, but wasn't sure about the kennel club registering them.
they do some strange things don't they?

I think as long as both the parents are KC registered the KC will register all of the puppies, unless of course the litter was above and beyond the KC rules and reg's. :D

You're quite right Natalie, they KC will register all pups regardless of colour in any breed unless either of the parents was not KC registered, the bitch was over or under age at the time of birthing the litter, more than the maximum number of litters had been bred from the mother, or one or both of the parent's registration docs was endorsed "progeny not for registration".

Despite registering them within the guides above, the registration document should automatically be marked as "colour not standard" if the colour or description of colour is not exactly within the rules laid out by the specific Breed Standard.  So in this case "Champagne Blue" should be quoted as "non-standard" on the docs ;)  But they have been known to make mistakes before ....

Regards, Teri :)

Hi - Just checked the KC's breed description for Staffs and they quote :

".......Colour Red, fawn, white, black or blue, or any one of these colours with white. Any shade of brindle or any shade of brindle with white. Black and tan or liver colour highly undesirable. "

So surely going on their guide they should be able to be registered ?  Or is champagne blue different from blue ?
