which firstly I'd like to point out is academic.

Do folks think that anal gland problems are a valid reason to not use a dog at stud?

If they are a serious problem that say his relatives have also had then I would wonder if ti was familial and would stay clear, but otyherwise it is more likely to be environmental, caused by loose stools after atummy bug, or incorrect feeding for the individual.

Thanks for your reply, my own conclusion was similar.  My knowledge of heriditary illness is tiny and just wondered what other peoples thoughts were on the subject.

Again, many thanks!

For what it's worth my girl's mother had a lot of problems with her anal glands and eventually had them removed. This was after her 2 litters my girl lived to 14 with no problems and her sister and half sister died in their teens with no anal gland problems
