Hi there I have had my lovely girl scanned today and as I suspected no puppiesthink I'll go and be sad for a while
It's really upsetting isn't it :-( It happened to me last year, I am ashamed to say I shed a few tears. Don't worry too much, the time flies by between seasons ;-)

Still keep an eye on her it has been known for people to be told that there are no puppies and for the dog to produce one or two. How far gone was she?

A friend of a friend has just had that experience, which sounded quite alarming what with the whelping box being in pieces in the loft and the bitch producing puppies all over the kitchen floor!!!
I think most of us have been there at some point beag and know the dissapointment you are feeling. Fingers crossed for you if you decided to try again.

i know how your feeling it has happened to us 3 times with the same bitch, but every season she used to have phantoms.
it is very disappointing though, good luck next time.

she should have been 5 weeks to the day, I knew she'd missed thats why I had the scan, this would have been my first litter for 5yrs and my girls first , I was looking forward to having another babe around, fingers crossed everything will work out next time
thanks for your sympathy its very much appreciated

beag, you must feel so disappointed - I know I would be. My 3 year old beagle bitch has come into season and I'm taking her for her first mating next monday, so I'm just keeping everything crossed that the mating's successful. There's just no guarantee, is there.

i had this trouble this was going to be her last chance as she was exactley 4 and she has silent seasons i had her scanned by keith shea who can tell by the follicles when is the best time to mate her , but this time took no chances and the stud dog owner was good enough to keep her at hers and let her run with the dog for the week We had 6 puppies So don,t give up just try and make sure that you are mating her at HER RIGHT TIME
id def reccomend the iidex blood testing, its brilliant as weve had bitches miss and used that and had large litters, good luck next time.

Glad to hear that. Certainly seems the best way to achieve a litter is to have the parir together for a good length of time during the likely fertile period.
My friend used to always have the bitches to board from about day 8 until they were mated two or three times or were no longer standing, and very rarely had a bitch miss to her males.
It also meant the males were very good at telling ehr when the bitches were ready as there was no urgency for them to mate her there and then. With males that only get to see a bitch for the actual mating it can become a habit that they mate her becausee she is presented to them.

Hi we will try again she has a hip score of 3/3 and clear eye cert, and is a wonderful girl, and there's plenty of time as she is only 2. I'm definately going for the full works blood tests, swabs and whatever next time though ! lol
Please keep your eye on her. I mated a bitch last year and the scan showed she was not in whelp, she then developed pyometra and had to be spayed. 6 months later I mated my other bitch and the same thing happened only this time we managed to treat her with antibiotics. Am going to try again when she comes in season in Oct with the help of my vet.
