I saw these advertised on a link from a camping equipment site. Has anyone any experience of them? I presume ordinary nappy sacks - which we currently use - don't biodegrade?

We use these for our dogs. The packaging carries a warning to store them out of direct sunlight and use within 6 months (I think) so they must break down an awful lot faster than standard plastic bags.

Thanks - so...back to a familiar question...is it OK from an enviromentally friendly point of view to put them into a Wheelie bin?

I think the whole point of using them is to put them on a compost heap, or bury them, nappy bags will not break down at all, so makes them useless for compost heaps/burying.

I do put them in the Wheelie bin, I'm afraid, as we don't really have another option but as least I know they will break down in the land fill site.

Sorry I didn't mean they couldn't go in the wheely bin, just that I thought that was the point of them, but you are right, at least they will still break down :D

Sainsburys sell biodegradeable nappy sacs,they seem less shiney than the usual kind but just as good :)

I've seen it mentioned a couple of times lately & just have to say, as a really keen composter (sad, I know!), that dog & cat waste really should not be composted, in the same way that you would not put human waste on a compost heap. Hopefully, you wouldn't put the contents of a nappy on the heap either! :p (nearest I can get to a "Bleeeeeegh! icon)There are possible health risks from doing so. Waste from vegetarian pets like Guinea Pigs & Rabbits is fine.
