Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Should I inform the Breed Club?
- By bertbeagle [gb] Date 31.08.05 11:13 UTC
I have seen someone advertising a litter of "Pocket Beagles" for sale as KC registered etc. "Pocket Beagles" don't exsit ( or they shouldn't ) and I'm wondering if I should inform the Breed Club? Not sure how the Kennel Club would view as they are not breed to the standard.
What do you think?
I'm quite concerned as the puppies could have health problems and the potential new puppy owners are been decieved by been told they are purchasing a Breed that doesn't exsit as such.....

I'd certainly tell the breed club/s and the KC. Trading Standards might also be interested as they're advertising a non-existent product ...

I have called the KC but they can't do anything about it as they just get the registrations and they get registered as Beagles. They also advised to contact Trading Standards so I'm going to look into this.

I sympathise Bert, its terribly frustrating isnt it. I recently saw an local ad for KC registered pit bulls!!!!! I advised the paper where they were advertised that they were selling a) non existant product & b) an illegal one if it were partly correct (work that out!!)
I also reported it to TS, but knowing these sort of people they will bluff their way out of it! Grr

To be honest they are unlikely to be members of any breed club.  I think it is probably a bit like people who advertise miniature Yorkies and standard yorkies they dont exist.  I think this country is becoming obsessed with making everything minature. :(

Not much luck on this, I have contacted the Trading Standards and had a chat to them, they do get this kind of complaint regularly so I passed on the breeders details. I don't think anything will be done unfortunately as it is such a difficult thing to police, it would be great if the KC could some how police it but I know that is not possible :(
I really hope "Pocket Beagles" don't become the next must have Dog!
I also emailed the Breeder and informed them that there is no such thing as a "Pocket Beagle" they shouldn't be breeding them it's very irresponsible and are misleading potential owners. Funnliy enough - I got no relpy, I have a feeling they may have received other emails with the same context.
