How easy or otherwise is it to housetrain an older dog? Specifically a 2 year old bc who has spent all his time in kennels?

We have met a stunning dog with a beautiful nature but I am worried about the housetraining aspect - my 10 month old toy poodle who I got at 6 months still hasnt got the hang of it!

Any tips/advice welcome
Jane

Just go through the same things you'd do with a puppy - make sure the reward is worth while to the dog, and give it as many opportunities to 'do the right' thing as you can.

As the other poster has said trat the dog like apuppy take it out often and givbe a word for toileting, and praise on performance and reward.

As for the toy Poodle this does seem to be a problem with many of the toy breeds, often not letting have as much freedom aroudn the house will help.  For the small dog anywhere away from it's bed is considered far enough away, even if ti is another roiom rahter than outside wher i may be frightening, wet, too far to be bothered to go or what have you.
