hi, can anyone help? we have a 8 week old pup that won't stop eating stones everytime he goes out, I have read that he may need calcium supplements he was hand reared a little so may not have had as much of mum's milk as he should, do you think this is why he is eating stones and any ideas on what I should do?

Puppies are like babies, they put everything into their mouths, for heavens sake don't let him swallow the stones. Take them off him straight away. I doubt very much that he's short of calcium, what are you feeding him?

we only bought him home at the weekend and we are following the diet that the breeder has advised and he is thriving! I suppose i am just being a over protective mum! we are at the vets tommorow for his first vaccination so I will mention it to him and in the mean time ill keep watch and hide the stones!!
When we first got out pup he wouldnt stop trying to eat stones, but now he seems to have grown out of it although he does still try to chew the corner of our concrete step. Just try to make sure he doesnt swallow any. I think pups will just try and eat anything that fits in their mouths (and in my dogs case things that dont.) I went into the kitchen earlier to find he'd managed to bring a big chunk of brick in the house! It really does my head in, next doors kids keep trying to post things through our fence, last week I found a chair leg that they'd managed to try and feed him, they claimed it wasnt them but the fact that the rest of the chair was in their back garden proved otherwise!
