I went on a charity event last night and came home this morning to a sick dog. Hubby said he was fine first thing, good poop and very playful as usual. Hubby said he ate his brekkie so fast he was having to stop and belch every so often and about 10 mins later he was sick which OH put down to gulping. He has been sick 7 times since and has had diorhea since then and is now feeling very sorry for himself, would this still be because he gulped or do you think he is poorly. Is there anything i can give him. The vet gave me kaogel last week when he had a runny tum from eating something at the park, will this help if he is being sick or is it just for the runs? Thanks.

More experienced people will no doubt answer, but I would suggest starving him for 24 hours, (depending on how old he is?) then giving something bland like chicken and rice. Make sure he has plenty of water too.

I'd agree with Lucy and give hime some chicken and rice, i dont think it's because he wolfed his food, it might of been if it was once but seven times and the runs suggests to me that he's ill.  He's probably eat something he shouldn't have again.

Warm regards Susan

One thing I have learnt lately is that a lot of pups and older dogs are getting bad Gardia infections, apparently picked up from paths, old rain water in pools, licking dirty boots etc.The Vet said that this year gardia has been very common in pups.We treated this with 2 full doses  of Drontal Plus for 2 days running followed up with a week of antibioutics and live plain yoghurt throughout the day. Some of the dogs will lap Yoghurt but others will need to be "syringed"- best to do this through the side of their mouth where the dental "gap"  is. One good thing about this treatment is that it will clear them of all worms also.

rain water is his favourite, he was only sick for about an hour and he hasnt been sick since. He seems ok around OH even chasing him around and playing, but when i walk into a room his ears drop and he needs to sit on my lap. We gave him chicken and rice after he had been sick free for a couple of hours, and he was belching a lot all day. He had the runs for part of his poop but the second part was ok, (sorry to be so graphic). If he is ill in the morning i will take him straight to the vet anyway.  It just worries me so much after the last pup we had and because he cant tell me how ill he is it makes you feel helpless and sends me straight into panic. Mind you i should have known he wasnt that poorly when he was wrestling with the washing OH was trying to peg on the line. I have anti bac sprayed every where and made sure everything is clean so fingers crossed all is well in the morning.
