Hi
It isn't a good idea to try to mate two inexperienced dogs -if it is the bitch's first time she will need an experienced stud, and vice versa. Matings are quite a skill and when it comes to inexperienced dogs (even if it is just one of them), you need somebody experieced with matings there to help out. All sorts of things can go wrong otherwise, the dogs NOT mating being the least of your worry.

I have to say it is unlikely that your own dog would be the best match for the bitch, most of us have to travel far for a suitable stud. So assuming she has had all the relevant health tests etc,  I would strongly suggest you find the best possible exeperienced stud owned by somebody experienced, and take her there for her next season. Contact your bitch's breeder and your breed club for help on finding a suitable stud dog.
