Topic Dog Boards / Health / Sealyham Terrier - Shivering
- By royyates [gb] Date 16.04.02 10:58 UTC
We have a 13 year old Sealyham terrier bitch who is generally very healthy, recently however, she has started 'shivering' violently for short periods (ie upto 4 or 5 seconds) and then stops again for 4 or 5 seconds, this has been getting more frequent in the recent weeks.
We have seen the vet about it, but was not able to give any suitable answer for the condition, and just suggested that we give her half a soluble asprin, which does seem to stop the shivering for anything upto 4 or 5 hours, when she sometimes starts again.
Although she does not seem to be in any pain (she is not yelping or 'crying') she does seem to be 'out of sorts' during these periods.
We just wondered if anybody else had experienced these symptoms with this (or any similar breed), we would hate to think that she is suffering pain because of our own ignorance.

It sounds to me as if she may be suffering from convulsions or small fits. I'm not sure if taking asprin would help if it was convulsions or not.

Could it be that she's having small strokes and that's why she's been prescribed asprin?

If you're not happy with the info provided by your vet then go back and see them and insist on more information and a better explanation.

Good luck,

Fiona
