We are looking for a staffordshire bull terrier pup and in need of some advice. I am looking for a short legged compact muscular staffy without a big bully head. Alot of the dogs weve looked at seems like their heads are not in proportion with their bodies. Please Please can you reccomend a breeder/s or signs to look for in a pup to ensure he is not going to grow up with an oversize head !!!! This may sound stupid but we have been looking for a really long time and could do with some professional help. many thanks

I'm not 100% on this and i'm sure someone with more knowledge than myself will be able to help you, but I think one of the best things you should be looking at would be the parents. My staff doesn't have the usual wide head of a staffy but he looks the image of his mum.
Besides, surely the fact that the puppy is healthy, comes from a good breeder, has a good temperament etc is more important than the size of its head??
what you need to do is get in touch with the breed clubs, which can be found on the kennel club site, then the best thing would be to contact your nearest one, they should be able to tell you who's got a litter and give you plenty advice.
also make sure that both parents are health screened, eye tested and tested for L-2hga
hope this helps, good luck in finding your pup.
